Shalom’s Sr. High Youth Ministry aims to be:
Relational – We aim to help students develop positive relationships with their peers, with adult leaders and most importantly with Jesus Christ.
Radiating Joy – We aim to model a lifestyle that overflows with joy – a joy that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe that Christianity and fun are not on opposite ends of the spectrum, rather living life for Christ leaves a person joy-filled and complete.
Raising Disciples – As stated in Ephesians 4:11-12, we believe that God called people into ministry to prepare His covenant children for lives of service. We aim to provide many service opportunities, both local and distant, and it is our prayer that the experiences shared while doing service work will lead to a life-long desire of serving the King.
Overview of the year: The Sr. High youth program is designed to help high school students develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. A typical month will include a variety of events and programs which will help students in their spiritual journey. We are structured in a way to be a relational youth ministry. The first two Wednesday’s of the month consist of students partaking in their small groups. The third Wednesday is Re-Charge, which is a combined worship service with another church in the area, and the fourth Wednesday of the month is a small group free night, we encourage the group to spend time with each other and grow closer with each other. It is up to the group of how they want to do that, if they want to do it by having a meal together, playing games together, or doing service projects together.
During the summer we take a break from the small groups and we do 1 large group event a month. We also encourage our students to go on SERVE projects through Youth Unlimited where they get a chance to travel to a different location and serve a community. On these projects they meet new people, build new friendships, and serve our Heavenly father in different ways. Whether it is painting a house, roofing a house, weeding some ones garden, or visiting a retirement home, the youth are stretched to serve people that they have never met before.
